Menopause is the next stage and officially occurs
when you haven't had a period for one year. Also test reveal certain hormone levels. Some 95% of women reach menopause
between the ages of 44 and 55 with the average age being 50. Men also have hormone decline due to aging and other influences. The male
version of menopause is called andropause. This can begin as early as the 30s but is more common in late 40s and 50s
and continues throughout life. Not all men experience this but most do and have some of the following symptoms Diminished sexual desire and erectile quality. In particular, a decrease in nocturnal erections is a significant
sign of decreased androgens. with a decrease in intellectual activity, fatigue, depression, anger, and poor spatial orientation.
Mood changes. This can be also associated with a decrease in intellectual
activity, fatigue, depression, anger, and poor spatial orientation. A decrease
in lean body mass, along with decreases in muscle mass and strength. A decrease
in body hair. A decrease in bone density, resulting in osteoporosis. Osteoporosis
can often lead to increased incidence of bone fractures and breaks. An increase
in fat surrounding the internal organs. Somatopause: This is
cause by a decrease in Growth Hormone. Growth hormone production decreases after puberty at a rate of approximately 14% every
10 years. This occurs equally in men and women. Some of the symptons are: - Weight-gain, especially around the middle
- Loss of bone density
- Declining energy and sex drive
- Increase in bad cholesterol
- Decrease in good cholesterol
- Skin begins to wrinkle
Bio-Identical Hormone Replacement Therapy
- What Is It? Bio-Identical Hormone Replacement Therapy is
the use of natural hormones from plant sources that have been engineered in a lab to be an identical match to the human hormone.
What Are Synthetic Hormones?
Synthetic hormones are those than have been prescribed by doctors since their introduction
into medicine. This treatment is commonly know as HRT or hormone replacemnt therapy. The best
know ones are:PremPro, Provera, Premarin, Aygestin, Megace. These are the hormones used in the Women's Health Initiative
(WHI) study. This study was stopped early due to evidience that showed a significant increase in breast cancer,
heart disease and stroke related to the synthetic hormones.
BioIdentical Hormones-Are They Safe? Bioidentical hormones, from existing studies are safe when used correctly.
This is why it is important to have your hormone levels tested and the correct level of bioidentical hormones prescribed by
a physician that is knowledgeable of bioidentical hormones replacement therapy. To date most physicians are not
knowledgeable of bioidentical hormones.
Why Should I
Choose Saylor Medical Group? Saylor Medical Group has been providing Functional Medicine including Anti-Aging, Wellness
and Esthetic Medicine to Tampa Bay since 1994. We use a cutting-edge approach utilizing a combination of therapies to
get to Hormone Optimization. Saylor Medical uses bioidentical or natural hormones versus bio-similar
or synthetic hormones. Bioidentical hormones are molecule-by-molecule, exactly the same as the hormones present in the human
body. At Saylor Medical, your anti-aging physician will assess your individual needs and work to restore these hormones and
customize a medical plan specifically for you. Hormone imbalances can cause
hot flashes, weight gain, night sweats, etc. Many hormone creams, pills, and potions on the market are purchased and used
indiscriminately. A more scientific way to deal with the regulation of hormones, however, is to measure their levels in the
urine with a 24-hour lab test and then design a nutrition and hormone replacement program to bring the levels to normal. The
hormones measured include all the ovarian, adrenal, thyroid, and pituitary hormones, including growth hormone. Those needing
hormone replacement are given bioidentical, non-drug formulations that can be filled at a compounding pharmacy. Both women
and men can be tested and treated. Natural Hormone Replacement Therapy can replace
the hormones your body loses - the estrogens, progesterone, and other hormones - with hormones bioidentical in nature to those
you lose. Bioidentical hormones exactly mimic the structure and function of the
hormones inside your body. Bioidentical hormones come from plant sources, and help women rebalance hormone levels in their
bodies in a natural way.
